History of The Brunswick Hills Police Department

The Brunswick Hills Police Department was formed on February 14, 1978, as a result of the passage of a Resolution by the Board of Trustees of Brunswick Hills Township which formed the Brunswick Hills Township Police District.

The Board of Trustees, Mr. Art Joreski, Mr. Fred McClure, and Mr. Hal Rohlik, determined that because of community growth, Brunswick Hills Township needed a part-time police department to supplement the activities of the Medina County Sheriff’s Department, who was the primary provider of police service to Brunswick Hills Township at that time. Chief Frank Sebesta was named the first Chief of Police.

The Brunswick Hills Police Department remained a part-time police department until 1988, when the department’s first full-time officer was hired by Chief Allen Warchak, who served as the Chief of Police from 1980 until his retirement in 1993.

In February of 1990, the Brunswick Hills Police Department assumed the role of primary police service provider and began providing full-time police service to the community.

As Brunswick Hills moved into the 21st century, the Brunswick Hills Police Department will continually strive to provide the highest degree of police service to the community in the most cost-effective manner possible.
